Difference between Oriental Rugs and Persian Rugs
An oriental rug is a broad term used to describe handmade rugs that originate from various countries in Asia, including Iran (formerly known as Persia), China, India, Turkey, and many others.
On the other hand, a Persian rug specifically refers to a type of oriental rug that is exclusively handmade in Iran (Persia).
However, the terms "oriental rug" and "Persian rug" are sometimes used interchangeably, leading to confusion.
The main difference lies in their origin, where oriental rugs are produced in various Asian countries, while Persian rugs are exclusively made in Iran.
Nonetheless, both types often exhibit intricate designs, impeccable craftsmanship, and utilize high-quality materials, making them prized and sought after globally.
